Leen Brynaert has a substantial amount of experience in sales support and export. She’s a very enthusiastic, energetic and result oriented lady. After first 14 and then another 9 years with the same employers, she needed a new challenge. Leen tells us about her experience:
ELKE REALLY LISTENED
“In December 2016, after thinking about it for a long time, I decided to hand in my resignation to my current employer. I was ready for a new challenge.
Starting the process of applying for a new job was a bit daunting for me. Not just because of my age, but also because I did not have a lot of experience in the matter. Additionally, the process has changed a lot in 25 years. I wanted to embrace those changes and use the new available channels in my search. So I created a Linked in profile among other things.
And sure enough, one day, I found a message in my Linked-in mailbox from Elke Van De Walle from Select HR. She asked me to contact her because she thought there might be a possible match with one of her clients.
I responded to the message and soon enough we were emailing and calling back and forward. Elke already had one concrete job opportunity for which she asked me to translate my resume to English. And so I did that same night. We also set an appointment in Select HR’s offices in Ghent. It was a very pleasant first meeting. I really got to tell my story, in depth. Elke really listened to me and asked just the right questions. So she got a really clear picture of who I am and what I’m looking for.
After our talk, she came up with a second job opportunity. She introduced me to both of her clients and both invited me for an interview. And they went quite well. So well even that I got a proposal from a company that is really tailor made to my needs. I start there tomorrow and I could not be happier.
GENUINE INTEREST AND MOTIVATION
Over the past few months, I have been in contact with many selection and recruitment companies. But the cooperation with Select HR really stood out for me. I really appreciated the in-depth approach. And Elke has always shown genuine interest and motivation to find the right job for me, not just any job. She really made an effort to brief me thoroughly before each job interview. And feedback and follow-up went very smoothly and were correct. I felt like I could really approach her with any question I had. In other words: two thumbs up for Elke, and for Select HR.!”
AN HONEST AND OPEN APPROACH
And this really is typical of Elke’s approach. She tells us what motivates her and how she sees the cooperation with her clients and candidates.
“Helping each client and candidate to the best of my abilities really drives me. I see it as a constant and thorough process of communication. Really aligning both with the candidate – on his/her needs- and the client. And keeping everyone informed and involved along the way of course.
What defines my approach? I think it’s really important to be honest and open with the candidate at all times. After all, they count on me to give their career the boost they’re looking for. The only way to do that is to paint a realistic picture of the situation. That includes their capacities of course, but also points of improvement and possibilities. And I try to be proactive and think outside of the box for them. In my position I have a good overview of the possibilities in the labor market. And that often includes things the candidates haven’t thought of themselves.”
